A major function of the National Specialty of any breed is to showcase the best Saint Bernards in the country.  A kennel's record of National wins over several years can be used as an indicator of the quality being produced by that kennel.  Cache Retreat is proud of its performance over the past two decades or more.   This section summarizes the major wins of Cache Retreat dogs at the Big Show.   

Best of Breed has been won three times and Best Opposite Sex has been won three times by Cache Retreat dogs.

In 1991 Ch Cache Retreat On A Clear Day was awarded Best of Breed by Judge Marcia Carter at the San Diego National.    Pam Hathaway is shown handling all of these major winners.   Clear Day also won Best Opposite Sex at the 1992 National in Ardmore, OK under Judge Beverly Nosiglia.











Ch Cache Retreat Academy won Best of Breed at the 1998 National at Purina Farms in MO under Judge Don Carter.  Academy also won Best Opposite Sex at two Nationals:  1996 under Judge O.M. Capodice in Frederick, MD and 1997 in Colorado Springs under Judge Joan Zielinski.  Academy was the dam of 9 champions.




















In 2006 a very young Ch Cache Retreat Perry  "Fridge" won Best of Breed under Judge Stan Zielinski in Cheyenne, WY.  "Fridge's" dam is featured in the header at the top of this page.
